From SEY
This is our first year purchasing a lot from Tuke Yute in Keramo, Bensa. We have been inspired by his coffees for a couple of years now and are pleased to finally release one. In the cup we find a fruit-forward profile of strawberry jam, lychee, and rose.
ABOUT TUKE YUTE
Tuke Yute is a coffee producer in Keramo, one of our favorite growing areas within Bensa. He farms 10 hectares (~25 acres) at excellent elevation and also purchases cherry from thirty of his neighbors with smaller gardens. This is our first year buying coffee from Tuke, and we look forward to seeing how this relationship develops.
ABOUT 74158
Varieties developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC), one of Ethiopia’s federal agricultural research centers, are referred to as JARC selections. There are around 40 of these varieties being grown in Ethiopia today. JARC approved the release of 74158 in 1979. The variety originally came out of the Metu Bishari Selections taken from mother plants from the Metu woreda (district) of the Illuababora zone. 74158 was selected and propagated for its high yield potential and resistance to coffee berry disease.
