      The Lamastus family

The Lamastus family has been growing coffee at Elida Estate for over a century, and you can taste every bit of that history in this cup. Perched high in the Boquete highlands, the farm sits among volcanic soils, old-growth forests, and a thriving ecosystem that’s been in harmony with coffee plants for generations.

Elida Estate is the oldest and most celebrated of the Lamastus family’s farms, and it’s also where our relationship with them first took shape. We met Wilford Lamastus Jr. in 2019 while coaching him for Brewers Cup, and since then we’ve spent years tasting coffees together, learning from their team, and sharing meals that felt more like family dinners. It’s a rare thing to meet producers who carry this much legacy yet remain so humble, generous, and genuinely excited about pushing coffee quality forward.

Their sustainability work is just as thoughtful as their farming. At their lower-elevation drying farm, they’ve installed bioreactors that turn organic waste into compost and capture gas for the workers to use. They offer regular medical visits for pickers and create special holiday celebrations for their families. This coffee is the result of a century of thoughtful farming, careful processing, and the Lamastus family’s ongoing commitment to growing something truly delicious.
