Duromina is a washing station located in Ethiopia's Western region, Agaro. Here between 1850-1950 MASL farmers are growing coffee on small plots of land from .1-2 hectares. This is our first selection from Western Ethiopia of the season, harvested between December and January 2026. The cup is clean and bright with notes of candied citrus, floral honey and sweet peach along with the dense sweetness we love from coffees from the west.
Coffees from Agaro have been a staple on our menu since the beginning. While most of our sourcing in Ethiopia is focused on the South, these lots from Agaro stand up as some of the best lots coming out of Ethiopia. Duromina is part of the Kata Maduga Cooperative which played a crucial role in differentiating western Ethiopian coffees by investing in processing infrastructure enabling them to produce impeccable, clean coffees.
Cherries are picked at peak ripeness and floated upon delivery. The ripe cherries are then depulped with a penagos pulper which mechanically removes the mucilage. The seeds are then soaked overnight and then dried on raised beds for 8-10 days.
