From SEY
This release continues our harvest separation project with Octavio Rueda, who has consistently produced one of our favorite profiles—one we are beginning to associate closely with the Pink Bourbon variety. This third harvest pass continues to impress. In the cup we find pomegranate, hibiscus, and limeade.
ABOUT OCTAVIO RUEDA
We have been purchasing Pink Bourbon from Octavio Rueda for several years, and few producers consistently achieve this level of quality. This year, we hope to begin a closer examination of the genetic diversity within Pink Bourbon—seeking to understand why some lots express such distinctive profiles while others seem inherently limited. Octavio’s coffee is an exceptional example of the variety’s potential, and one we hope to continue learning from.
ABOUT PINK BOURBON
Pink Bourbon is a relatively new variety being grown primarily in and around Huila, Colombia. The variety has been identified genetically as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific as to its origins until there is a larger genetic database.
