From ONIBUS
Angel has been working in the coffee industry for about 15 years at San Vicente, an exporter based in Pena Blanca in Santa Barbara Prefecture, and as the quality control manager there, he has been responsible for connecting producers with roasters and importers from around the world.
At the time, San Vicente was not very active in dealing in specialty coffee, and the main focus was on trading coffee that was a little different in quality from what is currently on the market. However, Angel, who noticed the greatness of specialty coffee, began to actively incorporate it, and has supported Honduran coffee from production to trading to this day.
When the Santa Barbara coffee market is bustling, he is busy every day attending to customers who come to purchase from us and from other countries, and acting as a bridge between producers. In addition, as a producer, he started a coffee farm named "La Colmena" on the first piece of land he purchased in 2007.
Coffee production here started with planting only Red Catuai varieties, but two years later he completed his first micro lot for specialty coffee, and has had a successful career. Since 2011, he has been recognized for his achievements in participating in the COE (Cup of Excellence), and has since established an important position as an expression of high-quality Honduran coffee.
In 2018, he purchased land in El Dorado, Santa Barbara, and sold La Colmena Farm, where he had spent most of his career as a producer, and is now focusing on producing a number of new farms, including the newly opened El Escondido, El Itacyo, La Tigra, and El Tango, which we will introduce this time.
The farm in El Dorado is planted with various varieties such as Pacas, SL, and Geisha, and has been producing wonderful and stable coffee since its first harvest in 2021.
Currently, El Tango Farm cultivates only Geisha varieties on about 2 hectares of land, but there is another 6 hectares of land to be developed in the same area, and it seems that after development, it is expected to be used to cultivate other varieties or to increase the production of Geisha varieties. In any case, we cannot help but be concerned about his future prospects.
Every year when we visit this country, we have seen Mr. Angel attend us, and he is a producer who has a personal attachment to us, as he is sincere about quality and values relationships with producers.
The coffee is assertive and gorgeous, which is unique to the Geisha variety. Or rather, it is a little more modest and delicately gorgeous, and the liquid is beautiful until the end. I think this coffee embodies Mr. Angel's personality. Please try the coffee of the artist who has supported Santa Barbar.
Angel Arturo Paz Ramirez's coffee is supported by the local exporter "San Vicente", where he serves as the quality control manager.
About San Vicente
Based in Pena Blanca, a small town in northwestern Honduras, San Vicente currently deals with over 400 farmers, mainly producers active in the Santa Barbara area. The San
Vicente team, led by the owner Angel, supports visitors such as coffee importers and roasters from all over the world by attending on-site, cupping, and even trading.
Angel and his staff member Benjamin are also owners of coffee farms and have achieved many successes at international competitions such as COE.
They also support producers through quality control, such as moisture value and water activity value, which are essential for maintaining quality, and the green coffee they ship is managed to have a moisture content of 10-11% and a water activity value of 0.40-0.60aw.
