Juan De Dios Medina Montoya
Juan De Dios Medina Montoya is the kind of producer who learned coffee the old-fashioned way—by growing up in it. He spent his childhood working alongside his father and grandfather, absorbing everything from planting to harvest long before he ever owned land of his own.
In 2000, Juan took a big step and bought just 0.7 hectares, planting his first coffee trees with savings earned through years of hard work. From there, Zancudero grew gradually, one careful expansion at a time, fueled by patience, persistence, and a deep respect for the land.
Like many producers, Juan started with conventional coffee, but curiosity pulled him toward something more. His first specialty microlots appeared in 2017, and by 2021 he began working closely with San Vicente, refining his approach and embracing more precise processing. Today, his coffees reflect that journey—thoughtful, intentional, and rooted in generations of experience.
