A vibrant honey-processed gem from southern Yirgacheffe, bursting with tropical fruit and floral charm.

      Gedeb Chelbesa

From the lush hills of southern Yirgacheffe comes something truly special — a rare honey process coffee that captures the wild, fruit-forward beauty of Ethiopia in every sip. Gedeb Chelbesa is produced by Ephtah Specialty Coffee, a women-led exporter bringing fresh energy and deep expertise to Ethiopia’s coffee landscape. Founded by Wubit Bekele, Ephtah is built on empowerment, community, and quality — values that shine through in every lot they produce.

Chelbesa sits within the Gedeb district, a region known for pushing the boundaries of what Ethiopian coffee can taste like. The high altitudes, fertile soil, and cool climate create the perfect environment for complex, fruit-saturated coffees. While Yirgacheffe is the name most people know, Gedeb has its own flavour identity — juicy, expressive, and full of life.

At Ephtah’s Chelbesa station, over 170 people work through harvest season to carefully sort, rest, and dry coffee with incredible attention to detail. Their black honey process allows the coffee to develop layers of sweetness and depth, resulting in a cup that’s vibrant yet balanced — with notes of cherry, pineapple, and hibiscus that feel like sunshine in a mug.
