      From Monogram Coffee

A rare and expressive Ethiopian coffee made using a mosto anaerobic natural process, where coffee ferments with its own juices for an extra layered and fruit-forward profile.

      Tamiru Tadesse

Tamiru Tadesse didn’t come up through coffee in a typical way. Before Alo Coffee ever existed, he was a university teacher and electrical engineer who found himself drawn into the coffee world and quickly frustrated by how often quality and producers were overlooked. He saw how much potential Ethiopian coffee had, and how rarely that potential was truly rewarded.

Everything changed in 2020 when Ethiopia held its first-ever Cup of Excellence. Seeing producers finally recognized for outstanding work gave Tamiru the push he needed. Together with his wife, Messi, he started Alo Coffee in their home village of Alo, Bensa, with a simple but ambitious goal: prove that Sidama coffees could compete with the very best in the world.

They didn’t just compete, they won. In 2021, Tamiru’s very first Cup of Excellence submission took the top spot, putting Alo Coffee firmly on the map. Since then, Tamiru and his team have continued to push Ethiopian coffee forward with cutting-edge fermentation techniques and innovative drying profiles. This lot stands out as a true Superfruity. Limited, intentional, and a beautiful example of how far curiosity and craft can take a coffee.
