From Friedhats
The past few years we were always able to source some very good geshas from Peru. They’re usually washed and always very clean and delicate.
This one is produced by the Pintado family based in San Ignacio in the Cajamarca department in the north of Peru close to the border with Ecuador. These cherries grow at high altitudes of around 2000 masl.
They work together with Origin Coffee lab, an exporter that partners with small scale farmers in the region to help them implement better farming practices in order to grow higher quality coffee and be financially more sustainable, because they get a higher price for their coffees.
Although prices are higher these days anyway, regardless of the quality.
Origin Coffee Lab works together with Nordic Approach, where we buy some of our coffees from. Like this one from Dionsio Pintado.
Ok cool, but what does it taste like?
It’s balanced, it’s clean. It has high altitude acidity. It’s delicate. It has notes of Chamomile, jasmine and dark berries. Maybe doesn’t blow you away with the first sip, but you’ll love it by the time you get to the bottom of the cup. Unless you’re making an espresso, in that case you will love it straight away.
