KAWA Coffee is located in Paris, France

From KAWA

Score: 86.75+

The caramelized sweetness of cane sugar blends with the full-bodied richness of black tea, while a hint of bergamot brings a lively and refined freshness. An elegant and balanced cup, between intensity and subtlety.

Yaye Washing Station

Yaye is a privately owned washing station located in Arbegona woreda (administrative district), Sidamo Zone, Ethiopia. The washing station is located in Chericho kebele (local village) and is one of twenty stations owned and operated by Testi Coffee, a family business founded by Mr. Faysel A. Yonis.

Located at 2,230 meters above sea level, Yaye produces exceptional batches of washed, natural, and special-brew coffee. Built in 2021, the washing station is one of Testi’s premium sites, meaning it only accepts the highest-quality cherries and farmers receive additional payments for these batches. Premium sites are selected based on their regional characteristics (Yaye, for example, was built next to the Gelana River), which helps streamline processing and ensures they only receive cherries from local farmers who grow coffee in exceptionally stellar conditions.

During harvest, freshly picked coffee cherries are delivered daily by some 300 independent farmers from the kebeles surrounding nearby Tulecha Mountain. The average altitude of farms in this region is very high – around 1,995-2,230 m above sea level – which, combined with the region’s cool temperatures, is ideal for the slow ripening of coffee cherries, resulting in denser beans and a smoother, more complex cup profile.
