Tamiru Tadesse
Tamiru Tadesse was recognized for his remarkable work at the Cup of Excellence in Ethiopia, a prestigious award that exemplifies his dedication to the art of producing exceptional coffees. The recognition reinforced his goal: to shine a light on the unique heritage of Ethiopian coffee while ensuring fair incomes for the smallholder farmers he works closely with.
Perched at over 2,400 meters above sea level, Alo Farm benefits from fertile volcanic soil and an optimal climate. These natural assets, combined with Tamiru’s sustainable farming practices, produce coffees of exceptional quality. However, Tamiru’s vision extends beyond production: he aspires to elevate Ethiopian coffee internationally, while celebrating the age-old traditions that surround its cultivation. On the farm, washed and natural processing methods are employed, revealing floral aromas, citrus notes and fruity flavors typical of high-altitude Ethiopian coffees.
Following his Cup of Excellence win, Tamiru expanded his project by collaborating with local farmers to preserve and harvest heirloom coffee varieties. These plants, prized for their delicate aromas, elegant acidity and complex flavors, produce traceable batches that are highly sought after by roasters around the world for their unique and exotic character.
