Daniel Caro's last harvest of the season is a lovely end to an exceptional year. For several years, we have worked together on a project focused on the Chiroso variety, which is specifically cultivated in this region. His farm, El Tambo, is one of the highest in the area at 2,200 masl and spans 33 hectares (~81 acres), with 5 hectares dedicated to coffee. Daniel primarily grows Chiroso, with a small garden of Gesha, and we are excited to see how this farm continues to develop.\u003cspan data-sheets-root=\"1\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eABOUT CHIROSO\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eChiroso is a new variety being grown primarily in the region of Antioquia, Colombia. We only started hearing about its cultivation a couple of years ago, but because of its cup quality potential it is beginning to spread. The variety has been genetically identified as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately we cannot get any more specific than that at this time. We have been working very hard building a buying program in the region of Urrao specifically around the variety of Chiroso. We still don't know where or how this variety came to be cultivated in this particular region, but its cup quality is extraordinary.
