We have been working with coffees from Banko Gotiti for several years now, and this is one of the best expressions we have tasted to date. In the cup we find peach tea, lemongrass, and wildflower honey.

ABOUT BANKO GOTITI

Banko Gotiti is a small town in the south of Gedeo County, in Kochere, Yirgacheffe. The washing station there processes cherry from around 2,000 smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee on single-hectare (~2.5-acre) garden plots. This traditional model of coffee cultivation and processing remains deeply rooted in the region, and continues to produce some of the finest coffees in the world.

ABOUT ETHIOPIAN LANDRACE

Ethiopia is widely acknowledged as where coffee originated, and its production continues to represent a significant part of the country’s economy. DNA testing has confirmed over 60 distinct varieties growing in Ethiopia, making it home to the most coffee biodiversity of any region in the world. Given the tradition of coffee production in Ethiopia and the political interworkings of the Ethiopian coffee trade, it is virtually impossible to get single variety coffee lots from Ethiopia. This is changing, albeit very slowly. Most Ethiopian coffees are blends of the many Ethiopian varieties, and referred to simply as 'Ethiopian Landrace'.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0767/5101/2119/files/2026BankoGotiti-Ethiopia_2560x_e87a468b-b5ca-4a76-acd6-47120d1f1f29.webp?v=1779305353
