The vast majority comes from small gardens of 0.1 to 0.2 hectares (~0.25 to ~0.5 acres). Nearly everyone in the region grows coffee, and it remains the primary source of income for producers here. Given the tradition of coffee production in Ethiopia and the political interworkings of the Ethiopian coffee trade, it is virtually impossible to get single variety coffee lots from Ethiopia. This is changing, albeit very slowly.
