It was originally discovered on a plantation in the early 1900s. It has a single gene mutation that causes the plant to grow smaller so the actual coffee plant is quite small in stature and height. Caturra has a high nutritional requirement and is quite susceptible to leaf rust. Yellow Caturra tends to ripen faster than Red Caturra, often presenting itself with light and floral flavours. DNA testing has confirmed over 60 distinct varieties growing in Ethiopia, making it home to the most coffee biodiversity of any region in the world. Given the tradition of coffee production in Ethiopia and the political interworkings of the Ethiopian coffee trade, it is virtually impossible to get single variety coffee lots from Ethiopia. This is changing, albeit very slowly. Most Ethiopian coffees are blends of the many Ethiopian varieties, and referred to simply as 'Ethiopian Landrace'.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0767/5101/2119/files/2026Alo_Bombe-Ethiopia_2560x_e4c58f2d-5618-4cb6-acf4-bef651368f0a.webp?v=1783186944
dak-cosmo-plum-colombia-honey-field-blend
DAK - Cosmo Plum | Colombia - Honey - Field Blend

DAK Coffee Roasters is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands

From DAK

Cosmo Plum is a honey-processed lot of caturra and castillo, harvested around Buesaco in Nariño.
